Ralph Henry Uff

Western Salisbury firefighter

Ralph Henry Uff, 91, of Allentown, died Feb. 23, 2025, surrounded by his family. He was a devoted husband to the late Catherine (Roma) Uff for almost 70 years. Born in Allentown, he was the son of the late Ernest F. Uff Jr. and Lois (Fieldhouse) Uff.

As a 101st Airborne United States Army SP4, he served during the Korean War in the Army Security Agency providing signal intelligence and security information.

He was employed by The Roma Construction Company as project superintendent and owned Ralphco Plumbing and Heating Company, where he built homes, constructed roads, installed and maintained underground utilities and trained those who worked with him. He also served as South Whitehall Township plumbing inspector for many years. He developed R. H. Uff Construction Company, which he owned and maintained Country Club Gardens Water Company, Springhouse Farms Water Company and Maple Hills Water Company.

Dedicated to his community, he served as a volunteer firefighter with the Cetronia Fire Company and with the Western Salisbury Fire Company for more than 37 years, attaining rank of deputy fire chief and training officer.

He was a founding member of Lehigh County Hazardous Materials Response Team and served as a judge for SkillsUSA.

He was a licensed real estate agent, licensed master plumber, certified plumbing inspector, state certified water systems operator, state certified firefighter II and a state and USEPA certified hazardous materials technician.

In addition, he had a class A Commercial Driver’s license.

He will be remembered for his fierce love and devotion to his family and his many crusades, stories, neon colored flagging tape, “Good morning!,” humor, kindness, mentoring, attention to detail, first in and last out and his reassuring calm under pressure.

He is survived by sons, Thomas R. and his wife, Connie, Scott T., Danny M. and his companion, Kelly Larimer, all of Allentown; sister, Lois “Lodi” Everson and her husband, Keith, of Clear Lake, Iowa; sister-in-law, Judith A., of Slatington; grandchildren, Michael and his wife, Melissa, Ryan and his wife, Heather, Lexine Thomas A., Thomas R. II and his fiancé, Emily Moss; great-grandchildren, Evan, Addison, Callianne; nephew, Robin; niece, Merry. He was predeceased by a brother, Ernest F. III.
