Northampton: NASD offers community classes
Northampton Area School District community education is offering more classes.
The line dancing class, a light cardio workout, will teach some basic and popular country line dances. The class will be Tuesdays March 4-25 in the gymnasium at Siegfried Elementary School. Brian McNeal is the instructor. Bring water and wear comfortable shoes.
Register at nasdschools.org. Participants do not need to be NASD residents.

Aqua Zumba, a class where dance party meets pool, is led by instructor Tara Miller, who will be outside the pool demonstrating the choreography to each song. It meets 7:30-8:30 p.m. Mondays March 10-April 7 at the Northampton Area Middle School pool.
Stixercise incorporates drum sticks with choreography to give a total body workout. The class will be taught by Michelle Heisler in the Siegfried Elementary multipurpose room 7-7:45 p.m. Wednesdays March 12-April 2. Bring water and a mat.

Grace United Church of Christ, 902 Lincoln Ave., will be holding an eat-in or takeout crabcake/chicken finger dinner 4-6 p.m. March 7, 14, 21 and 28. Dinners include two crabcakes or three chicken fingers, a baked potato, coleslaw, roll and a brownie for dessert.

Northampton AARP Chapter 3915 will meet March 12 in the Atlas Room at Northampton Banquet and Event Center, 1601 Laubach Ave. Doors will open 11 a.m.
Entertainment will be singer and musician Rob Ballonoff. Members, bring your favorite cake, cupcakes or cookies for the refreshment table.
All members and prospective members are invited to attend and/or join.
If there is inclement weather and Northampton Area School District is closed or has a two-hour late start, there will be no meeting.

Northampton Exchange Club will hold its annual spring craft and vendor fair from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 16 at Northampton Banquet and Event Center.
There is free parking and admission. More than 80 crafters and vendors will have displays. Food and drinks will be available for purchase.

State Rep. Zach Mako, R-183rd, is co-hosting a seminar to protect senior citizens from scams with Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary and Queenship of Mary Catholic churches’ Young at Heart groups. Scam Jam will be held 1-3 p.m. March 27 at Assumption BVM, 2181 Washington Ave.
Speakers will include officials from Pennsylvania Department of Banking and Securities, Northampton County District Attorney’s Office, Pennsylvania Office of the Attorney General, Northampton Police Department and AARP Pennsylvania.
In addition, a number of rounds of fraud bingo will be conducted to add a fun element to the event.
“Schemes involving scams and frauds continue to grow and evolve,” Mako said. “It is important to be on guard in order to not be a victim. I encourage seniors to attend this event even if they have come in the past. I hope to see you there.”
