Martha Geraldine Coraor
Martha Geraldine Coraor, 100, of Whitehall, formerly of Allentown and Wilmington, Del., died Feb. 23, 2025.
She was the wife of the late George Robert Coraor, whom she married on June 15, 1947, in Jacksonville, Ill.
Born May 23, 1924, in Marshall, Mo., she was the daughter of the late Friend Wells Jr. and Florence Catharine (Barton) Wells.
In 1946, she graduated from Illinois College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in biology and completed the medical technology program at Northwestern University Medical School.
After raising her family, she was supervisor of the histology laboratory at Atlas Chemical Company, which was eventually acquired by AstraZenaca from which she retired in 1985.
Professionally, she was a member of the American Society of Medical Technology, American Society of Clinical Pathologists, National Society of Histotechnology and the New York Academy of Sciences.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Allentown and loved crafting for the church bazaar; served as a Cub Scout Den Mother.
She volunteered at Habitat for Humanity, Westminster Village Auxiliary, Allentown Area Ecumenical Food Bank and the Fellowship Community gift shop.
Her survivors include sons Robert J. Coraor and his wife, Susan, of Wilsonville, Ore., Lee D. Coraor and his wife, Joan, of State College, and John E. Coraor and his wife, Hanna, of Huntington, N.Y.; brother Joseph Wells and wife, Fran, of Marion, Iowa; grandchildren, Steven, Jacob, Lynn, Nathan, Everett, Kaja, Juli and Aria; great-grandchildren Jack, Liam, Sofia, Claira, Dietrich, Asher and Oren.
She was predeceased by a grandson, Sean; sisters Margaret Becker and Mary Smock; and brother, Friend Barton Wells.
