Ladies Aid Society holds fundraiser at Jerusalem Western Salisbury church

The community counts on Jerusalem Western Salisbury Union Church holding its annual yard sale the first Saturday of March. The Ladies Aid Society of the church has organized and operated this church fundraiser for over 30 years (excluding the pandemic years). Treasures could be found throughout the inside and outside of the church. Puzzles, backpacks, linens, chairs, electronics and so much more were available to the public 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. March 1. Money raised helps to maintain the building as well as supporting numerous church projects. The members are hoping to raise enough to replace the flooring.

The Ladies Aid Society is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year. Approximately 30 members organize and run this yard sale every March. There will be numerous events through December to celebrate this centennial event.

The Macungie Band will perform a free concert for the community 3 p.m. March 23 in the church sanctuary. The “airing of the quilts” will also take place in which numerous quilts will be displayed. A free will offering will take place to raise money for the community outreach food packaging event held in April. Linda Held, parish coordinator of the church, explained the concert is being tied to events for Women’s History month which is celebrated throughout March.
