Joan L. Lester, 93, of Macungie, died Feb. 22, 2025, at home. She was the wife of the late James C. Lester.

Born in Northampton, she was the daughter of the late Ray W. Sr. and Leah E. (Reinert) Anthony.

She was a 1949 graduate of Northampton High School.

She carried on a third-generation seamstress role at various mills in the textile industry throughout the greater Lehigh Valley for years.

She was a former member of Zion Lutheran Church, Northampton, and was a former member of Trinity Memorial Lutheran Church, Allentown.

She was an avid bowler throughout the years, joining several mixed leagues at Parkway Bowling Lanes, Allentown.

She was survived by two sons, James R. with Elizabeth of Yorktowne, Va., and Scott R. of Macungie; two daughters, Tami L. McGrath with Jack of Macungie and Kelley J. of Allentown; a brother, Gary Anthony with Hilda of Tecate, Mexico; a sister-in-law, Carol Anthony of Northampton; five grandchildren; a great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews.
