Grace Lutheran Church, 28 W. Main St., Macungie, will offer its free community meal 5-6:30 p.m. March 14 in the fellowship hall (note the time change). Takeout meals are also available. Call the church office at 610-966-3325 for the menu.

Grace Lutheran Church holds a weekly free food distribution 2-4 p.m. Wednesdays in March, March 5, 12, 19 and 26 for East Penn School District residents. Signs will be posted with directions for parking and pickup.

The Friends of the Macungie Institute will host an afternoon of bingo 1 p.m. March 16 in the lower level of Macungie Memorial Hall at Macungie Memorial Park. Our dog Lizzy has some interesting idiosyncrasies. She likes to lick our clothes, experiencing the world through her tongue. She drives my husband crazy by sidling up to him and nudging his arm while he’s working on the computer or eating. Another maneuver Lizzy uses on me is to stand next to me with her head near my lap. I’ll start rubbing her head and scratching her ears. She will ever so slowly start moving so that I am scratching her down her back until I realize that I have reached her butt. If I do not accommodate her routine, she will walk to the middle of the room and sit with her back to me, sulking!
