Our dog Lizzy has some interesting idiosyncrasies. She likes to lick our clothes, experiencing the world through her tongue. She drives my husband crazy by sidling up to him and nudging his arm while he’s working on the computer or eating. Another maneuver Lizzy uses on me is to stand next to me with her head near my lap. I’ll start rubbing her head and scratching her ears. She will ever so slowly start moving so that I am scratching her down her back until I realize that I have reached her butt. If I do not accommodate her routine, she will walk to the middle of the room and sit with her back to me, sulking!

The copy deadline for the April 2 column will be March 27.
