Allentown Central Catholic students achieve athletic and academic honors

The Allentown Central Catholic High School Mock Trial team had a great performance Feb. 25 as it competed against Pen Argyl and Fleetwood in the semifinals.
Katie Kloiber and Zoey Nechetsky received “Best Advocate” awards and Cooper Thompson and Charlie Strzelecki were recognized with “Best Witness” awards.
On Feb. 27, ACCHS held a “Vocations Day.” Priests and religious sisters visited ACCHS and joined the student body for Mass. Students attended sessions during theology classes to learn about religious life from the visitors.
ACCHS athletes have been accomplishing great things. Awesome job to Caden Rosner, a middle school student wrestler from St. Elizabeth Regional School, who placed fourth in district competition. ACCHS junior high wrestling is made possible through a cooperative team with Salisbury Township School District.
Congratulations to Jahrel Vigo and Lucas Mushrush for being named Eastern Pennsylvania Conference Boys Basketball All-Stars. The boys and girls basketball teams have both moved on to the District finals and will play in the state championships.
Shout out to Alyssa Stahlnecker for coming in second place for diving at Districts and to Kaya Spearko who placed sixth.
Congratulations to ACCHS Class of 2024 alumni Clark Gulycz who became the NEC Men’s Indoor Shot Put Champion at Saint Francis University. He won his first ever championship with a mark of 54 feet, 11 inches.
Congratulations to Molly Gibson, a 2025 National Merit Scholarship finalist. The National Merit Scholarship recognizes academically talented students who must submit an application including academic record, participation in school and community activities, leadership abilities, employment and awards received. Finalists must have an impressive high school academic record, be recommended by a high school official, submit an essay and earn SAT or ACT scores confirming their performance on the qualifying test. The scholarship winners will be announced in April.
The 2025 Bishop’s Scholar Society Award winners include ACCHS students Mushrush and Therese Gasser. These students are being honored for their good character, practice of faith, academic performance and dedication to the local and school community. They will be recognized at a ceremony April 26.
The Future Viking Semi-Formal Dance will be held 7-10 p.m. March 8 in Rockne Hall. Seventh and eighth graders are invited to this event to meet future ACCHS classmates. There is a cost and refreshments will be available for purchase.
Support ACCHS wrestling through the Viking Accessory Fundraiser. Partnering with BBBrooke, a 2006 ACCHS graduate, the sale is offering exclusive Viking-branded accessories including keychains and jewelry. Orders are due March 10 and will come in by April 15.
