BETHLEHEM social calendar March 5

VOLUNTEERS WELCOME: The Hellertown Historical Society is looking for volunteers to become tour guides and lead students and the public on guided tours and interactive field trips of the 1761 Heller-Wagner Grist Mill Complex.

Participants will undergo a comprehensive six-week training program in March and April 2025. Training will be led by experienced members of the HHS Education Committee. Sessions will be held weekly at the grist mill.

A1C SCREENING: The American Red Cross of Greater Pennsylvania is helping to bridge access to health care for blood donors by providing free A1C testing, commonly used to screen for diabetes and prediabetes, on all successful blood, platelet and plasma donations in March. CRAFT FAIR: Northampton Community College’s Alumni Association will hold its Annual Spring Craft Fair Saturday, March 15, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., in the Arthur L. Scott Spartan Center Gym located at NCC’s Bethlehem campus. Over 150 crafters will be exhibiting and selling their handmade crafts such as jewelry, food, woodworking and more. Proceeds from the craft fair benefit student scholarships, internship awards

and career readiness programming. NCC will be collecting nonperishable food items and toiletries for the student run food pantries.

EXHIBIT OPENING: A collection of locally sourced fine art is currently on display at the Kemerer Museum of Decorative Arts, 427 N. New St., Bethlehem. A contemporary fine art show primarily highlighting paintings and collage, “Cordially Invited” is designed to complement the Kemerer Museum’s current exhibit, “Checking In: Bethlehem’s Alluring Accommodations.”

Located on the second floor of the museum, the exhibit showcases the work of Kailey Atkinson, Nancy Bossert, Jan Crooker, Figlio (Ron Bossert), Katie Hovencamp, Thomas Kelly, Danny Moyer, Maryann Riker, Abbey Rosko and Erika Stearly.

Museum hours are 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday. Admission tickets for the Kemerer Museum are on sale at historicbethlehem.org.

GALA & CONCERT: Step into history and witness the extraordinary artistry of the Thomanerchor, one of the world’s oldest and most renowned boys’ choirs, as they join The Bach Choir of Bethlehem for a gala concert March 8 at 4 p.m. Steeped in the traditions of Bach’s home church, these young musicians eat, sleep and breathe music, carrying forward a legacy that spans over 800 years.

Founded in 1212, the Thomanerchor is one of the oldest cultural institutions in the world. Based in Leipzig, Germany, the choir has maintained its reputation for excellence for over eight centuries.
