Parkland Garden Club presents Laurel Awards

The 2024 Laurel Awards were presented Dec. 10, 2024, to very worthy members of the Parkland Garden Club for all they have done for the club.
The awards were presented at the annual Christmas party.
President Helen Papathanasiou and Vice President Kendra Copley, presented the following:
·Claire Kukielka for her hard work and dedication as past president, representing the club and for her work as assistant GCFP District II/II Director, the past two years.
Kukielka is currently the GCFP District II/III Director for the next two years.
·Deb Barhight for promoting the love, care and involvement with nature by chairing the Conservation Committee since 2014 and as Youth Garden Club chairwoman.
·Cynthia Dunton for her tireless work for many years as the club’s treasurer.
In addition to being the treasurer, she has chaired many event planning committees like the one for the June 2023 GCFP District II/III meeting that the club hosted, and is an essential member of the annual Garden Tour Committee/ Silent auction committee.
·Newer member Karly Lazo for her work and commitment to the Community Garden Partnership Committee by stepping up to co-chair the Committee.
Her expertise, innovative ideas and hard work have greatly improved the community gardens.
The Parkland Garden Club meets 7 p.m. on the second Monday of each month at Jordan Lutheran Church, 5103 Snowdrift Road, Orefield.
This year, the garden club is celebrating its 70th anniversary.
