‘Greenhouse Management 101’ offered March 17

Registration is open for an interactive workshop to learn strategies for growing in a greenhouse.

Hannah White, greenhouse manager at The Seed Farm, Emmaus and Emma Ford of the Philadelphia Horticultural Society will share best practices.

The workshop will be 1-4 p.m. at The Seed Farm, 5854 Vera Cruz Road. There is a cost and registration is limited to 25 participants.

Participants will learn about methods for temperature and humidity control, as well as how to manage greenhouse pests and diseases. White and Ford will cover proper watering techniques and tools, changing needs across the growing season, the use of heating tables and other greenhouse infrastructure and tips for maintaining a greenhouse building. Discussion also will include how to make greenhouses better places to work.

Those attending the workshop are encouraged to wear weather-appropriate clothing and footwear and bring a reusable water bottle and sun protection. The workshop will be held in a greenhouse and attendees will get to try a variety of greenhouse tools.
