Emmaus Woman’s Club announces annual Girl of the Month recipients

The Emmaus Woman’s Club recently announced the Girl of the Month recipients for the 2024-2025 academic year.
Honorees are selected from outstanding female students at Emmaus High School, according to organizers.
Recognitions are given for achievement and excellence in art, business/computer applications, drama, family consumer science, journalism, music, mathematics and science.
The honorees for the 2024-2025 academic year include:
Anna Romina Chavolla-Ramirez, of Emmaus, nominated by the EHS Music Department.
Chavolla-Ramirez is part of the EHS Chamber Ensemble, EHS Sinfonia Ensemble, EHS Theater Club, EHS Spring Musicals, The Bach Choir of Bethlehem High School Choral Scholar and member of the youth choir.
She serves as Tri-M Music Honor Society president, vice president of EHS Orchestra and soprano section leader of EHS Chorale.
She has been concertmaster and assistant concertmaster in EHS Orchestra.
She is a member of National Honor Society and Spanish Honor Society, EHS Young Democrats and co-president of the Spanish Club and has received the Underclassman Music Excellence Award and Underclassman Service Above Oneself Award.
She received a Freddy Award for Outstanding Solo Vocal Performance.
Her plans include double majoring in vocal performance and political science, hoping to become a lawyer.
Amanda King, of Emmaus, nominated by the EHS Family Consumer Science and Business and Computer Applications departments.
She is a member of National Spanish Honor Society and the Emmaus Science Honor Society.
She has received recognition for academic excellence from 2021-2024.
In 2022, she received the Service Above Self Award and Academic Excellence in Writing.
In 2023, her achievements included the Academic Excellence in Literature award, Academic Excellence in Spanish award and a Certificate of Appreciation for assisting, as staff, with the Carbon Lehigh Intermediate Unit 21 STEM Camp.
In 2024, she received an Open Exam Certificate of Merit for the 2024 USA Biolympiad Exam.
She serves as the president of the Interact Club and treasurer for Shave for the Brave.
She plans to attend college to pursue a bachelor’s degree in nursing.
Sarah Lorenzo, nominated by the EHS Science Department.
Lorenzo is involved in many clubs and activities including serving as co-president of the Spanish Club, co-president of the Red Cross Club, president of the Activism Club and EHS New Student Mentor and Translator.
She also is founder and president of the EHS Chemistry Club and vice president of EHS Economics and Investments Club.
She also is a summer camp counselor for Future Stars Day Camps, a volunteer at St. Luke’s and a Lehigh Valley Health Network clinical observer.
Additional recognitions include AP Scholar with Distinction, the Academic Excellence Award and National Hispanic Recognition Program for Outstanding Academic Achievement.
Lorenzo plans to major in nursing and hopes to become a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner.
Priya Mancheril, of Macungie, nominated by the EHS Mathematics Department.
Mancheril is a member of Spanish and EHS Science honor societies. Her other clubs and activities at EHS include being co-president of Red Cross Club, vice president of Model U.N., vice president of Science Fair Club, secretary of Student Government Association and a Hornet Ambassador.
Outside of school, she is also a junior board member and volunteer at Camelot for Children.
She has received many awards and accomplishments in her high school career, including the Office of Naval Research Naval Science Award, second place in physics at Delaware Valley Science Fair and first place in environmental science at Lehigh Valley Science and Engineering Fair.
She earned second place in environmental science at Delaware Valley Science Fair, first place in botany at Lehigh Valley Science and Engineering Fair and second place in botany at Delaware Valley Science Fair.
She plans to attend college and study biomedical engineering.
Carina McCallum, of Macungie, nominated by the EHS Journalism Department.
She is a member of Spanish Honor Society.
She also is vice president of Red Cross Club, secretary of Model U.N., a member of Hornet Ambassadors, Student Mentors and Class of 2025 representatives.
She also earned a first place award in the 2023 and 2024 Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Science State Competitions for a science fair project.
She has been the managing editor of the EHS school newspaper, “The Stinger” and her journalism awards include fourth place (joint award) in the National Student Press Association Reporting News Competition, Student Keystone Media Award Winners State Competition second Place award for Ongoing News Coverage, second place for editorial writing for the Pennsylvania Press Club Competition and fifth place in editorial writing for the Pennsylvania Student Press Association State Competition.
She plans to study journalism and English with the goal of a career in journalism.
Lillian Price, of Emmaus, nominated by the EHS Art Department.
Price owns her own Etsy business and works part time.
She is a member of the National Arts Honors Society.
Her accolades include creating a fundraiser, being an applicant nominee in Indiana University of PA’s Cooks Honors Program and receiving a Scholastic Silver Key for an art piece she created.
She enjoys painting, cooking, baking and writing poetry.
She also enjoys reading and while reading she enjoys researching new things about the career path she plans to follow.
She is interested in nutrition, anything dealing with science and art history.
Price is confirmed to attend Indiana University of Pennsylvania and their Cooks Honors Program in pre-med and plans to become either a family medicine doctor, pediatrician or a surgeon for intestinal issues.
Ava Grace Saab, of Macungie, nominated by the EHS Drama Department.
She is a member of French and International Thespian honors societies, French Club, Tri-M Honors Society and has earned the EHS Academic Excellence Award.
She is theater department president and performed in the ensemble in EHS productions of “Fiddler of the Roof” and “Cinderella” and was front of house chief for “Little Women.”
She is part of the singing group, Aca Bella at EHS.
In the choir department, she serves as the historian and has earned the class spirit award.
She creates the social media content for the EHS Choir and Theater Department and is the deputy news editor for The Stinger student newspaper.
She is a member of the fitness team and team captain of the varsity tennis team.
She received the East Penn Conference Tennis Tournament Bronze, EPC All-Star, Most Improved on the Tennis Team, EPC Scholar Athlete in Girls Tennis and Superior Team Captain awards.
She will major in news media at the University of Alabama to become a news or sports broadcaster.
Many of the nominees are also members of National Honor Society.
