The Northampton diving team had a strong showing at the PIAA District XI Diving Championship on Saturday, Feb. 22.

The championship meet consisted of 11 dives each and was held at Emmaus High School. Northampton’s Bella Kish placed fourth in the AAA division women’s finals with an overall score of 351.40.

In the AAA division men’s finals, Northampton’s Alex Szeplaki placed fourth with an overall score of 422.15, and Northampton’s Andy Szeplaki placed sixth with a score of 466.85. This district championship meet marks the end of these Northampton divers’ stellar high school diving careers, as all three are graduating seniors this year.

Many of their teammates from the Northampton swim and dive team were in attendance at Saturday’s events, cheering on their diving teammates.

Northampton Diving Coach Todd Lerch showed his appreciation for the team and the hard work each of the divers has put in this year, telling the team, “I am super proud of all of you – with a big shout out to the divers! This is what it means to be a team.”
