Rebecca A. Spieker

EHS Class of 1953 graduate

Rebecca A. (Keller) Spieker, 89, of Allentown and formerly of North Catasauqua, died Feb. 14, 2025. She was a resident of Above and Beyond at the Knights Senior Care of Allentown. Born in Emmaus to the late Charles A. and Helen V. Keller (Brey), she was the wife of the late Rev. George F. Spieker for 65 years.

She attended St. John’s Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday school, Vacation Bible School and sang in the church’s senior choir.

While at Emmaus High School, Class of 1953, she was a majorette and had the opportunity to dance on the Steel Pier in Atlantic City.

After graduation, she worked as a secretary for Wm. H. Taylor Co. for four years. In 1956 she married George Spieker and moved to Gordon, Pa., Plowville, Pa., Coplay and North Catasauqua.

She was a den mother during the years her son was a Cub Scout.

She worked for one season in the office for the Reading Phillies in 1968.

Every Sunday after church she would cook one of her memorable meals for family especially her homemade mac and cheese the entire family loved.

She worked at Miller Memorial Blood Center for many years until her retirement.

She took joy in sewing and always had a good flow of family members bring her something to patch. She enjoyed cheering on the Philadelphia Phillies and Philadelphia Eagles, finding new recipes, feeding the birds and sightseeing at Hawk Mountain and loving cats.

She is survived by a brother Charles L. Keller (Allene), of Salt Lake City, Utah; son, David C. (Mary), of North Catasauqua; daughter, Jane Ann, of Catasauqua and fiancé Sam Grim, of Whitehall; grandchildren, Denise, Jennifer Kibler (Randy), Daniel (Kristen); great-grandchildren, Skye, Annabelle, Timothy, Joshua, Cody, Adam, Levi, Gianna; great-great-granddaughter, Ember Mae; nephews and nieces.

She was predeceased by her sisters, Joyce E. Musselman, Nancy L. Bechtel.

Arrangements were made by Gilbert Funeral Home, 444 Pershing Blvd., Whitehall.
