Hokendauqua: St. John’s United Church of Christ to hold ashes-to-go event

St. John’s United Church of Christ-Mickleys, 2918 MacArthur Road, will hold its ashes-to-go drive-thru service March 5. Ashes will be offered 7:30-9:30 a.m., from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 3-4:30 p.m.

Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church, 3355 MacArthur Road, will be holding a basket social from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 8 and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. March 9.

There will be baskets, gift cards and WOW prizes.

There will be food available for purchase, including hot dogs, haluski, barbecue, soup and more. There will also be a variety of baked goods.

Hokey Athletic Association will have a spring flag football session, for 7U, 9U, 11U and 13U, starting March 30.

The end-of the-year tournament is scheduled for May 17 and 18.

Hokendauqua Park and Playground Association is holding sign-ups for the 2025 baseball and softball season. Further information and registration are available at hokeypark.com.

There will be teams for grades K-19 for boys and K-18U for girls.

Baseball will be T-ball and Grasshoppers, 4.5-8 years old; Biddy, 8-10 years old; Midget, 11-12 years old; Knee-hi, 13-14 years old; and Majors, 14-18 years old. Softball will be coed T-ball or 8U, 10U, 12U, 14U and 19U.

There is a designer purse bingo, presented by Hokey Athletic Association, planned for March 2 at American Club of Coplay, 300 Cherry St. The doors open 2 p.m., and bingo starts 3 p.m.

Five special bingos, a Chinese auction and other raffles are also part of the event.

Advanced tickets for the purse bingo are $5 cheaper than when purchased at the door. All proceeds will benefit rookie and competitive flags, 100 and 120 tackles and cheering.

Starting March 11 and continuing Tuesdays and Thursdays through May 8, the spring session of aqua aerobics will be held 6-7 p.m. in the natatorium at Whitehall High School, 3800 Mechanicsville Road. No classes are scheduled for April 15 and 17.

There is a cost for both residents and nonresidents.
