Daniel Hernandez earns scholarship

Daniel I. Hernandez, of Coplay, a 2024 graduate of Whitehall High School, was awarded a $5,000 scholarship from the Coplay Scholarship Fund Feb. 2. Hernandez completed the requirements for the award that includes writing a 1,000 word-maximum essay titled “What Local Government Means To Me.”

Hernandez is a student at Lehigh Carbon Community College in Schnecksville. At this point, he wants to pursue a career in civil engineering. After graduating from LCCC, he plans to transfer to a four-year college, possibly Lehigh University, to continue his studies.

CSF was founded in July 2001 by the Coplay mayor at that time. The goal is to provide up to two scholarships annually to recent high school graduates residing in Coplay and planning to attend college, university, technical school or the police academy.

With the help of donors, the CSF has provided thousands of dollars in scholarships since 2001.

If you are interested in supporting this effort to assist Coplay teenagers seeking higher education, consider a financial gift, mailed to CSF, 41 N. Eighth St., Coplay, 18037. The CSF has a 501(c)3 status with the IRS.

The CSF motto is “helping to provide for Coplay’s and the nation’s future.”
