Coplay: Celebrate Mardi Gras March 1

St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, 4 S. Fifth St., is planning its third annual St. Peter Rocks Out Mardi Gras party 5:30-10 p.m. March 1 in the church social hall.

The event includes a New Orleans-menu buffet dinner, beer, soda, water, coffee, tea, beads, masks, prizes, indoor parade, music by the Josef Kroboth Band and dancing. The party is BYOB.

Coplay Sports will be holding sign-ups for baseball and softball noon-2 p.m. March 1 at the Coplay Sports Den, 666 Potter Terrace. Baseball is for ages 5-15, and softball is for ages 5-8.

American Club of Coplay, 300 Cherry St., is holding a dance night March 14. Doors will open 5 p.m., and The Castaways will entertain 7-10 p.m.

Coplay Borough is taking applications for the 2025 Coplay pool manager, lifeguards and gate guards. Applications are available at the borough office, 98 S. Fourth St., which is open 8 a.m.-3:30 p.m.

Coplay Scholarship Fund Committee is awarding two $5,000 scholarships to Coplay residents who graduated from high school in 2024 and are planning further education at university, college, technical school or the police academy.

Scholarships are awarded annually. To support the committee, a 503(c)(3) nonprofit, send a contribution to 41 N. Eighth St., Coplay, 18037.

Coplay Food Bank, located in the lower level of the municipal building, is open 8:30-10 a.m. the second Tuesday of every month.

If unable to attend the scheduled Tuesday morning time frame, call Jodi at 610-262-0928 to make other arrangements.

The food bank needs coffee, spaghetti sauce and noodles, canned pasta, rice pouches and non-sweetened dry cereals. Monetary donations are always accepted.

Hometown Hero banners applications are available at the borough office. Publicly honor your war heroes and first responders — police officers, firefighters and ambulance personnel — with a banner.

Coplay Athletic Club, located on the second floor of the municipal building, is seeking new and renewed memberships. A gym membership costs $90 per year and $80 for renewals and prorated.

Looking for an inexpensive but great workout? Aerobic exercise is held 8:45 a.m. Saturdays and 7 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays in the borough hall auditorium.

Bring dumbbells, a towel and a mat to enhance your workout. There is a small cost.

Coplay American Legion Post 426 has an special mailbox in front of the Post at 134 S. Second St. Worn-out American flags can be deposited into the mailbox for the Post to properly destroy.
