Robert H. “Shep” Shapiro, 88, of Macungie, died Jan. 31, 2025, in Lehigh Valley Hospice.

He and his wife, Louise C. (Luongo) Shapiro, were married 61 years last May.

Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., he was the son of the late Benjamin and Doris Shapiro.

He was maintenance inspector for the FAA for many years.

He honorably served in the U.S. Air Force.

He loved listening to bluegrass music so much that he taught himself to play the banjo.

His willingness to help people and his sense of humor will be missed by all who knew him.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughters Joanne Bartell (Michael) of Pocono Summit and Veronica Stoeckel (Darrin) of Fogelsville; brother, Louis Shapiro of New York; grandchildren Michael, Justin, Nicole and Nicholas; great-grandchildren Ryan, Justin, Ashton and Gunner.

His service will be private.
