Barbara J. Flynn, 74 of Schnecksville, died Feb. 17, 2025, in St. Luke’s Hospital, Allentown.

She and her husband, James E. Flynn, were married 45 years.

Born July 17, 1950, in Altoona, she was the daughter of the late Richard K. and Lynette (Shoemaker) Nelson.

She earned her Bachelor’s degree from former Lockhaven State College in education and a Master’s degree from Penn State University in microbiology.

She taught high school biology for 24 years before retiring from education.

After her formal retirement, she was a real estate agent with the former Pat White Real Estate firm, Allentown, for 10 years, retiring in 2010.

In addition to her loving husband, she is survived by children Julie L. Ferro and her husband, Nicholas, of Alburtis, Matthew J. Flynn of Schnecksville, and Michael N. Flynn of McKeesport; sister Gloria Gmerek and her husband, Michael, of Cincinnati, Ohio; and grandchildren Amelia, Lillianna, Oliver Ferro and Sydney Henley-Flynn.
