SHS wrestling team goes 3-3 in dual-meet tournament

The Salisbury wrestling team went 3-3 at the Salisbury Falcon Duals last weekend.

The hosts beat Howard Tech (Delaware), Archbishop Wood and Panther Valley, while losing matches to Selinsgrove, Northern Lehigh and Deiruff.

In the opening-round 42-18 win over Howard Tech, Salisbury’s Jacob Spinner (114), Nathaniel Tone (139), Jordan Tocci-Wachter (152), Jacob Watson (215) and Sam Krauss (285) won matches by fall, while Jarrod Blunt (127) earned a technical fall, Michael Segata (139) won by major decision and Colton Tone (160) picked up a win by decision.

The Falcons’ bonus points and their ability to limit Wood’s bonus points led to a 38-27 win in the second round. Salisbury gave up four forfeits, but won seven of eight contested matches with five pins and two major decisions. Spinner (121), Blunt (127), Tocci-Wachter (152), Colton Tone (160) and Krauss (285) won by fall, while Segata (139) and Nathaniel Tone (145) earned wins by major decision.

Selinsgrove handed Salisbury a 44-24 loss in the second round. Blunt (127), Nathaniel Tone (145), Tocci-Wachter (152) and Spinner (114) pinned their Seal opponents in the match.

In a 39-31 loss to Northern Lehigh, Salisbury won five of seven contested bouts while forfeiting five matches and picking up one win by forfeit.

Tocci-Wachter (152) and Krauss (285) pinned their Bulldog opponents, while Segata (139) and Blunt (127) won by technical fall against NL. Spinner (114) earned a win by major decision and Nathaniel Tone (145) picked up a win by forfeit.

The Falcons took all seven contested bouts in a 48-18 win over Panther Valley, all by fall from Nathaniel Tone (145), Tocci-Wachter (152), Colton Tone (160), Watson (189), Krauss (285), Spinner (121) and Blunt (127). Segata (139) picked up a win by forfeit.

Dieruff handed Salisbury a 44-18 loss in the sixth round of the event. Tocci-Wachter (152), Krauss (285) and Blunt (127) pinned their Husky opponents in the match.

Salisbury also competed in the Coal Cracker Tournament at Lehighton High School on Jan. 24-25. The Falcons finished 42nd of 50 teams at the event.

The team will have some time off before competing in the individual District 11 Championships Feb. 21-22.
