Emmaus girls basketball extends win streak to 17

The Emmaus High School girls basketball team finished its last full week of the 2024-25 regular season with two games in the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference, both at home.

The Hornets first defeated Dieruff 64-42 last Tuesday, Jan. 28, and then followed that up two nights later with a 53-49 victory over Parkland. They have now won 17 games in a row and are the only unbeaten team in the conference at 16-0.

In the win over the Huskies, Emmaus jumped out to a 14-6 lead after the opening quarter. The Hornets went into halftime on top 31-18 and then outscored Dieruff 16-9 in the third quarter to claim the win.

Gabby DeVita led all scorers with 22 points, connecting on a game-high four 3-pointers. Three other players finished in double figures in scoring, including 14 from Cassie Doemling and both Kayla Snyder and Sylvia Sokolofski recording 10 points, with the former draining two 3-pointers. .

In the victory against the Trojans, it was a tale of two halves as Emmaus used a second-half surge after trailing at halftime to complete the comeback win. Parkland led 13-9 after the first quarter and 27-21 at halftime. But there was no quit in the Hornets as they wanted to keep their win streak alive. They outscored Parkland 11-6 in the third quarter and then 21-16 in the fourth to finish it out.

Snyder tallied a game-best 18 points and went 8-of-9 from the free-throw line. DeVita totaled 10 points, Sokolofski contributed seven points and both Olive Whitney and Sofia Laird netted five points. Doemling and Emma Naccarato each finished with four points.

Emmaus, which improved to 20-1 overall, had its final regular season game on the road at Whitehall this past Monday and will begin play in the EPC playoffs Friday night as the top seed.
