EHS names student of the week
Q. In what grade are you currently enrolled?
A. I am a senior at Emmaus High School.
Q. Please provide the first names of your family members: parents, siblings and pets.
A. My parents are Chip and Karen. I have two older brothers, Sam and Chris.
Q. What is your favorite subject? Why?
A. I love anything related to social studies. Over my years in high school, my favorite classes have always been related to history, government, psychology and economics.
Q. Have you received any special awards or recognition?
A. Academically, I have qualified for Principal’s Honor Roll every quarter of high school and am a member of National Honor Society. Athletically, I have been named an All-American, All-State, All-Conference and All-Area football player. I have been Emmaus football’s Special Teams Player of the Year both of the past two years.
Q. Are you involved in any extracurricular activities? How has being involved in these organizations impacted your high school experience?
A. In addition to NHS and football, I have been an active member of EHS New Student Mentors, Football Buddies, Aevidum, Hornet Ambassadors, the varsity soccer team, Administrative Student Council and Young Life. My time in Football Buddies has had a unique impact on my high school experience. Each week during the football season, my teammates and I were given the opportunity to spend time with students who have special needs. The new friendships I formed spurred me to continue to branch out and leave my comfort zone.
Q. What do you consider your biggest challenge to date?
A. Deciding on a college is difficult for anyone, but being recruited to play college football presented unique challenges and obstacles. The recruitment process was long and at times exhausting for me, but it was very rewarding and the lessons I learned about hard work, communication, developing relationships and time management have equipped me for life.
Q. What is your next goal after high school?
A. After high school, I will attend Cornell University to pursue a prelaw or premed track and play football.
Q. If you could spend an evening conversing with a historically significant person, who would you choose and why?
A. I would choose Jesus Christ. I believe Jesus came to earth, lived a perfect life and gave himself as a payment for the world’s sin and now all people who put their faith in Him can have a relationship with God because of His sacrifice. My faith in Jesus has given me a sense of contentment and peace regardless of what season of life I’m in and that’s why He’s who I would choose.
Q. For what would you like to be remembered?
A. When I graduate, I want to be remembered as someone who truly cared about people – someone who was a dependable friend no matter what.
Q. Do you have any advice for your peers?
A. Worthwhile endeavors are never easy. Challenge yourself, leave your comfort zone, stay disciplined and focus on making the most of each day.
