Robert H. “Shep” Shapiro, 88, of Macungie, died Jan. 31, 2025, at Lehigh Valley Hospice. He was the husband of Louise C. (Luongo) Shapiro for 61 years. Born in Brooklyn, he was the son of the late Benjamin and Doris Shapiro.

He was maintenance inspector for the F.A.A. for many years.

He honorably served in the United States Air Force.

He loved listening to bluegrass music, so much so he taught himself to play the banjo. His willingness to help people and his sense of humor will be missed by all who knew him.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughters, Joanne Bartell (Michael), of Pocono Summit and Veronica Stoeckel (Darrin), of Fogelsville; brother, Louis, of New York; grandchildren, Michael, Justin, Nicole and Nicholas; great-grandchildren, Ryan, Justin, Ashton and Gunner.
