John H. Rheiner

ACCHS graduate

John H. Rheiner, 90, of Emmaus, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, died peacefully Feb. 11, 2025, at Heather Glen Senior Living. He was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Marie A. (Kloiber) Rheiner. Born in Bethlehem, he was the son of the late Leo and Mary (Henry) Rheiner.

He was a 1952 graduate of Allentown Central Catholic High School and was a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Emmaus.

He served his country in the U.S. Army, stationed in Munich, Germany.

He was a first class lineman for PPL for 35 years until retiring.

He loved working in his yard, fishing, cherry pie and Notre Dame football. But, most of all, he loved his family. He spent much of his retirement helping out with his grandsons, getting them to practice and other activities. With Nana by his side, Pop-pop never missed a game. He loved to tell stories about his life experiences and, of course, about his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by a daughter, Joanne Hilty and her husband, Gary; son, John and his wife, Mary; grandsons, Matthew (Rachel), John, Timothy and Luke; great-grandson, Henry. He was preceded in death by his brother, Skip; sisters, Mary Lou and Betsy.

Services will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements were made by Bachman, Kulik & Reinsmith Funeral Home, Emmaus.

Donations can be made in his memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at www.stjude.org.
