Exciting events are coming up in Salisbury High School this February. From Valentine’s Day surprises with the STARs Club to the girls basketball team’s impressive season finish and the SGA’s upcoming monthly activities, there are many updates from SHS.
This Valentine’s Day, the STARs Club is putting a heartwarming twist on its mission to promote a positive, drug-free lifestyle. On Feb. 14, STARs Club members will be handing out valentines, each with a fun, anti-drug message. Slogans like “Hugs, not drugs” will brighten up students’ days while reminding everyone to make healthy choices. The valentines are designed to spread love and kindness, all while reinforcing the club’s commitment to keeping Salisbury a supportive, drug-free community. These festive valentines aren’t just for show; they’re part of the STARs Club’s ongoing effort to engage students in meaningful ways.
The SHS girls basketball team finished its season on a high note with a thrilling senior night win against Palisades. The team finished the season with a 9-13 record, marking a significant improvement over previous years. In fact, the Falcons secured more wins this season than in the past three seasons combined, a testament to the hard work and dedication of both the players and coaches. “The season was a great improvement since last season, and I have hope for the future.” student Tessa Kemmer said, reflecting the team’s optimistic outlook. With strong leadership from upperclassmen and promising talent from younger players, the future looks bright for Salisbury girls basketball. Fans can look forward to even more exciting games when the team returns to the court next season.
Starting in March, the Student Government Association will offer a series of monthly events designed to keep school spirit high and bring some extra fun to the remainder of the school year. Each grade level of the club members were assigned a month to organize creative activities, ensuring there’s always something to look forward to.
The sophomores are leading the charge with “March Mondays,” a weekly series of small surprises to brighten up the start of each week. Every Monday in March, students can expect to receive treats like candy, new pencils and festive St. Patrick’s Day bracelets March 17. As the year progresses, other grades will take over with their own themed events, keeping the excitement going through the spring. Whether it’s handing out goodies, organizing spirit days or planning fun pep rallies, the SGA is committed to making the final months of the school year memorable for everyone.
SHS continues to thrive with community and spirit. The STARs Club’s heartfelt messages, the girls basketball team’s inspiring season and the SGA’s monthly morale boosters all contribute to Salisbury positivity. As winter turns to spring, students and staff both can look forward to more exciting events.
