STUDENT PROFILE Edie Rittle, Charter Arts

Grade: 12

Family: Marc Rittle, Sarah Andrew and Calvin Rittle

Favorite subject(s): My favorite class in school would be touring choir. I absolutely love the environment and hard work that it takes in order to learn the songs. Not only is the repertoire amazing but I have learned a lot as well and it has truly been a crucial aspect of my musical career.

Activities: I participate in multiple clubs throughout my school including Book club, Newspaper, Prom Club, National Honors Society and Tri-M music Honors Society. Within those, I run Instagram for two; Tri-M: Officialchartsmusic and Prom Club: Chartspromofficial!

Next steps: As of now, I plan to attend a four-year university with a dual major in music education and vocal performance.

Career goals: My overall career goals as of now would be to be a music teacher or vocal coach while participating in vocal gigs and choirs on the side. This is because I absolutely love choir music and solo vocal performance and would love to be involved in sharing this passion within schools or throughout communities.

Heroes: I always look up to and am inspired by people who follow their heart and don’t let anything get in the way of their dreams. From my peers and teachers at school to my family at home, anyone who goes after what they want and doesn’t give up inspires me to believe I can do the same.

Hobbies: My hobbies include playing guitar and bass. I also take theater and dance classes at Pennsylvania Youth Theater and perform in shows there!

Current job(s): I work at The Bethlehem Dairy Store (The Cup), and have worked there for a little over two years.

Volunteer/community work: I volunteer at PYT over the summers helping with either adventure camp or the summerstage shows! I also help out from time to time at New Bethany preparing luminaria.

Likes: I love playing guitar, reading, playing with my dogs, and going to Wawa after work.

Dislikes: I don’t like how balancing school, extracurriculars and work can sometimes feel overwhelming.

Greatest accomplishment (so far): My greatest accomplishment so far within my musical career would be getting into Touring Choir last year, and then becoming a soprano one section leader this year.

Advice for peers: I have recently learned that you can do whatever you want within your career, personal or professional. As long as you are following your passion and sticking true to yourself, nothing can stop you and you will always find what you are meant to do.
