Allentown’s Archer Music Hall aims for March opening

The Archer Music Hall is an unobtrusive facade that fits right in along Hamilton Street in Allentown’s ever-evolving center city urban-scape.

Head inside The Archer and a whole new world opens up.

It’s kind of like Alice going down the rabbit hole in the novel “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland” by Lewis Carroll.

Inside the 31,000-square-foot venue is not one but two performance halls.

The Archer Music Hall is the main venue with a capacity of 1,600.

Within the hall is also Arrow, a 500-seat venue.

The Archer Music Hall is on target for a March opening. A preview tour was given Lehigh Valley media Jan. 23.

“With the finishes and the thought and work that went into it, it’s a great building,” said Mike Rilley, General Manager, The Archer Music Hall.

Archer Music Hall is City Center Group’s latest project in Allentown.

J.B. Reilly, President of City Center Group, the real estate developer behind The Archer.

The Archer is booked by Live Nation Entertainment.

“This will be my 23rd club around the country,” said Maggie Gessner, Head of Clubs, Live Nation.

When you enter through the front doors of The Archer, a huge disco-style silver ball pierced by an arrow suspended in front of a blue curtain bounded by a neon arc points the way.

The main concert hall is huge. The stage is large. There’s a big balcony. It’s as if an entertainment portal has opened up in Allentown.

A wall-mounted sculpture of arrows on a bullseye target heralds Archer, the second concert hall.

Archer Music Hall, 939 Hamilton St., Allentown, destined to become an entertainment icon, is just up the street, less than one block west, from the Lehigh Valley icon, PPL Tower, Ninth and Hamilton streets, Allentown.

Archer is expected to create more than 200 permanent jobs. Job are at: livenation.com/careers . Go there and search “Archer Music Hall.”

The venue is also available for corporate events, social gatherings, weddings, receptions and fundraisers.
