Volunteers are needed in Upper and Lower Milford townships

Upper and Lower Milford townships need volunteers for a variety of openings.
Lower Milford is accepting letters of interest for the position of a delegate to its joint building board of appeals. Visit the township website, www.lowermilford.org, for details about the position including qualifications.
Openings for volunteers in Upper Milford Township include slots on the recreation committee, open space committee, emergency services committee and to serve the community as an alternate on the township’s zoning hearing board.
Anyone interested in a position may contact the township office and/or visit the township website, www.uppermilford.net, for information.
Southern Lehigh Library, 3200 Preston Lane, Center Valley, will offer patrons an opportunity to create a Valentine’s craft 6:30-8 p.m. Feb. 12.
Library patrons 21 years and older will have the opportunity to make a heart from wine corks.

Southern Lehigh Library is the home library for Lower Milford Township residents.
Also Feb. 12, Upper Milford Township residents who visit their home library, Emmaus Public Library, 11 E. Main St., Emmaus, will have a chance to meet Lehigh Valley Phantoms ice hockey mascot MeLVin 2:30-3 p.m.
MeLVin’s visit will be open to all ages and held in the lecture room at the library.
History fans may want to join members of the Upper Milford Historical Society Feb. 27 for a presentation by Frank Willis on powder horns.
Historical society meetings are held 7 p.m. at the Upper Milford Township municipal building, 5671 Chestnut St.
Fans of acoustic music may want to mark their calendars for “An Evening with Russ Rentler” hosted by the Hivel Und Dahl Preservation Society scheduled 7 p.m. March 25, also at the Upper Milford Township municipal building. Rentler is a musician and songwriter. Admission is free.
Gardening enthusiasts and others anxious for spring may want to mark their calendars for the spring plant sale at The Seed Farm scheduled May 10 and 11. The event is held rain or shine and features plant starters organically grown on the farm.
The Seed Farm, 5854 Vera Cruz Road, also offers opportunities to volunteer for the plant sale. Visit the website www.theseedfarm.org for information.
St. Peter’s Union Church, 7863 St. Peters Road, will host an Ash Wednesday worship service 7 p.m. March 5. All are welcome.
The Lower Milford Township board of supervisors will meet 6:30 p.m. Feb. 6 for its regular meeting at the township building, 7607 Chestnut Hill Church Road, according to the township website.
The Upper Milford Township board of supervisors will meet 7 p.m. Feb. 6 and Feb. 20 in the township building, 5671 Chestnut St. There is an online option as well.
Lower and Upper Milford township offices will close Feb. 17 in observance of Presidents Day.
