Viking Fest Feb. 22 at DeSales University

On Jan. 21, the Allentown Central Catholic High School boys basketball team held a pregame ceremony to recognize the teachers and staff who make a difference in their lives. At this Faculty and Staff Appreciation Night, players recognized Mr. Clifford, Mr. McPhearson, Ms. Davidowich, Mrs. Gomez, Mrs. Shorter, Mrs. Belfield, Mrs. Kelton, Mr. Markham, Mr. Leuaber, Mrs. Pelizzoni, Mr. Bach, Mr. Elkins and Mr. Kendra.
ACCHS boys and girls varsity basketball took on Parkland in a doubleheader Jan. 28. Designated as the “Coaches vs. Cancer” game, players and coaches held up signs to support those fighting cancer and to share who they play for. Jan. 28 was also Partner School Basketball Night and Rockne Hall was packed with supporters.
Catholic Schools Week was celebrated Jan. 27-31. On Jan. 27, we celebrated community, starting partner school visits lasting all week. Students dressed in colors assigned to each grade. On Jan. 28, we celebrated vocations and Bishop Schlert joined us for Mass.
On Jan. 29, we celebrated our nation and students dressed in red, white and blue. Celebrating faculty and staff Jan. 30, student council hosted a faculty and staff luncheon. Students dressed in matching outfits for twin day. On Jan. 31, we celebrated students with ice cream and trivia at lunch. Students dressed in their favorite sports jersey.
The week ended with the Catholic Schools Week pep rally.
The ACCHS Aevidum Club is selling T-shirts. The Aevidum Club’s mission is to foster a positive mental health environment where students feel accepted, acknowledged and safe in their school community. ACCHS cheerleading camp will be held noon to 4 p.m. Feb. 15 in Rockne Hall. Girls grades K-8 are welcome to attend and learn the basics of cheerleading including dance moves, jumps and stunting.
This interactive camp will be taught by the ACCHS cheer team and coaches. Please drop off attendees through the alley “back doors” of Rockne. Parents are asked to not stay for the camp to prevent distractions.
Dress comfortable, in athletic “gym class” clothes and sneakers. Pack snacks and plenty of water for the day. Campers will wait on the bleachers in Rockne Hall at the end of the day to be picked up by their parents. To pay, bring cash or check on the day of. This event is a fun opportunity to celebrate our commitment to quality, Christ-centered education. Come dressed in casual green and gold attire to show your Viking spirit. The 2025 Semper Fidelis Award will be presented to Class of ‘71 Kevin and Diane (Diersing) O’Donnell. These proud alumni and parents of nine ACCHS graduates are awarded for their loyalty, dedication and involvement in ACCHS and the surrounding community. Your support of Viking Fest funds improvements to facilities, technology and programs.
With last year’s Viking Fest raising over $120,000, the school was able to support the ACCHS scholarship fund, the Viking faculty fund and install a digital video board in Rockne Hall. Attendance and sponsorship of this gathering is greatly appreciated.
