Parkland swim teams top Pates, win tri-meet
The Parkland swimming and diving teams competed in a tri-meet with Williamsport and Cumberland Valley on Jan. 18 at Williamsport High School.
Parkland won the three-team scoring in both boys and girls. The Trojans swept the meet with the girls team scoring 180 to 100 for Cumberland Valley and 35 for the hosts.
The PHS boys won with 145 points to 116 for Cumberland Valley and 53 for the Millionaires.
Sydney LaBaugh (200 freestyle, backstroke) and Milla Hahn (individual medley, butterfly) won two individual events each for Parkland, while teammates Kelsey McPeek (breaststroke) and Sam Schultz (diving) won one event each.
The Trojan girls teams swept the relay races at the meet.
Baylee Kish, McPeek, Hahn and Mackenzie Platt won the medley relay. LaBaugh, Kish, Grace Zhang and McPeek took the 200-yard freestyle relay and Zhang, Farrah Hahn, Milla Hahn and LaBaugh won the 400 freestyle relay.
In the boys meet, Dominic Faenza (200 free, 500 free) won two individual events and Gabe Krizel (backstroke) won one. The Trojans took first place in the boys 400 freestyle relay with the team of Thomas Price, Jacob Piccini, Pedro Teran and Faenza.
In East Penn Conference action, Parkland swept Nazareth on Jan. 14 to improve to 6-0 in boys and girls meets this season.
In the girls meet, Parkland beat the Blue Eagles 124-59 as four different Trojans captured individual events while the team won all three relays, including a 1-2-3 finish in the 200 free relay.
Parkland’s boys team beat Nazareth 129-54. Six different Parkland boys swimmers won events at the meet and the Trojans swept the three boys relays.
