Mindful communication intro class offered

The class “Introduction to Mindful Communication” will be offered 5:30-7 p.m. Feb. 20 in the Richard Fleming Educational Conference Center, Kasych Family Pavilion, at Lehigh Valley Hospital, 1200 S. Cedar Crest Blvd., Allentown.

Participants will learn about mindful communication with others, engaging fully in the moment, not just focusing on responding. Participants will practice mindfulness, learn how to become a good listener and become familiar with the key principles of mindful communication including:

Awareness: Recognizing your and others’ thoughts and feelings so you can respond thoughtfully rather than react impulsively.

Presence: Learning to be fully engaged in the moment and the conversation at hand without distractions.

Empathy: Connecting with others by putting yourself in another person’s shoes and creating an environment that promotes meaningful dialogue.
