Bethlehem Catholic’s girls basketball team took an early 16-point lead on Northampton before the Konkrete Kids were able to connect on a basket within the last two minutes of the first quarter on Jan. 30 at Bethlehem Catholic.

“We want to play at a high level, going into our game on Monday and playoffs, so it’s important for us to start turning the page and play competitive basketball,” said Becahi coach Arnold Alleyne, whose Golden Hawks defeated the Kids, 53-32.

While the Hawks were off to the races, frustration set in for Northampton regarding a lack of foul calls on Beca, twice on shots and once on reaching in.

Jenna Raysely broke Northampton’s scoring drought, and Anne Beenders drained a 3-pointer to end the first quarter and open the second quarter.

Becahi forward Daviana Jones sank a 3-pointer after teammate Mekhyla Britt saved a ball on its way out of bounds.

The Hawks led, 33-15, at halftime, and held the Konkrete Kids to four points in the third quarter.

Becahi’s bench, led by Brooklyn Lewis with six points, scored 11 points in the fourth quarter.

The Hawks will be looking for revenge against Easton in their last game of the regular season on Feb. 3 at Beca.

Said Britt, “We’re always working on our defense, sometimes more so than offense, but I think our defense is gonna push us through for Monday and then on through playoffs.”
