Ward steps down as BC football coach

Bethlehem Catholic will be looking for a new football coach, as Tyler Ward resigned this week from his position leading the team.

Ward just completed his second-season with the Hawks, leading them to a district title last year and an appearance in the finals again this season, but has decided to take a head coaching position out of state.

“This new opportunity marks an exciting next chapter in his career and his family, and while we will greatly miss his presence and his immediate impact upon our community, we fully support him in his decision,” said Bethlehem Catholic athletic director Stephen Tomaszewski. “Coach Ward has been an integral part of the Bethlehem Catholic community for the past two years. His dedication to our student-athletes, both on and off the field, has been nothing short of extraordinary. During his tenure, Coach Ward led the Golden Hawks with passion, integrity, and a steadfast commitment to developing young men of character.”

Ward, a native of Charlottesville, Virginia, was 13-13 in his two seasons at Beca. He played college football at Lehigh and spent time coaching at Franklin and Marshall and at his alma mater before spending time as a high school coach in Georgia and Alabama.

Becahi lost to Southern Lehigh 28-7 in last year’s District 11 4A championship.
