Richard T. Ortelli

member of St. Francis of Assisi

Richard “Dick” T. Ortelli, 88, from Northampton, formerly of Allentown, died Jan. 25, 2025.

He was the husband of the late Elizabeth (Betty) A. Ortelli (Reimer) for 63 years at the time of her death in 2020.

Born in Allentown, he was a son of the late John B. and Margaret A. (Ziegler) Ortelli.

A 1953 graduate of William Allen High School, he was co-owner, with his brothers, of Reliable Auto Body, Allentown, for all his working career.

A current member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, he was a former member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, both in Allentown.

He was a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus and a member of the former Italian Club, Allentown.

Fondly known as “Dad” and “Uncle Dick,” he loved to travel, especially to the Viking Motel, Long Beach Island, and Wildwood to wear his cutoff shorts, play miniature golf with Mom (Aunt Betty) and enjoy a drink or two.

He also treasured spending time, holidays, picnics, parties, with his family and friends.

Family was very important to him and he was grateful to have such a wonderful and loving family on both sides.

His final wish was that everyone could think of a fun time that was shared with him and raise a glass to all the memories made, for in the end, we all become memories.

Survivors include his son Ric Ortelli and his wife Pat (Dilliard) of Northampton; brothers-in-law; sisters-in-law; many nieces and nephews; and extended family on both sides.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by brothers Albert (Jean) and John A. (Anna) Ortelli.

Services officiated by Father Patrick Lamb will be 10:30 a.m. Jan. 30 in Gilbert Funeral Home, 444 Pershing Blvd., Whitehall. Viewing begins at 9:30 a.m.

Private interment will be in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Cemetery, Whitehall.

Memorial contributions may be sent to The Sanctuary at Haafsville, 901 Nestle Way, Breinigsville, PA 18031 or at thesanctuarypa.org.
