Hokendauqua: Church to host WCHI community meal

Whitehall Bible Fellowship Church, 3300 Seventh St., will host a Whitehall-Coplay Hunger Initiative free community meal 4-6 p.m. Feb. 18 for low-income Whitehall Township and Coplay Borough residents. Meals are guaranteed for the first 100 guests.

Hokendauqua Park and Playground Association is holding sign-ups for the 2025 baseball and softball season. Further information and registration are available at hokeypark.com.

There will be teams for grades K-19 for boys and K-18U for girls.

Baseball will be T-ball and Grasshoppers 4.5-8 years old; Biddy 8-10 years old; Midget 11-12 years old; Knee-hi 13-14 years old; and Majors 14-18 years old. Softball will be coed T-ball or 8U, 10U, 12U, 14U and 19U.

In continuation of its Bob Warke-Dale Horn Scholarship program, HPPA will again be awarding two $1,000 scholarships.

To be eligible, you must be a Class of 2025 high school-eligible graduate; be continuing your education in the fall of 2025; have participated in HPPA’s baseball, softball or basketball programs; and have completed the scholarship application form and returned it to HPPA before Feb. 28. Additional requirements are listed at hokeypark.com.

The organization will review the applications at a March or April meeting and select one boy and girl to each receive a scholarship.

There is a designer purse bingo, presented by Hokey Athletic Association, planned for March 2 at American Club of Coplay, 300 Cherry St. The doors open 2 p.m., and bingo starts 3 p.m.

Five special bingos, a Chinese auction and other raffles are also part of the event.

Advanced tickets for the purse bingo are $5 cheaper than when purchased at the door. All proceeds will benefit rookie and competitive flags, 100 and 120 tackles and cheering.

Starting March 11 and continuing Tuesdays and Thursdays through May 8, the spring session of aqua aerobics will be held 6-7 p.m. in the natatorium at Whitehall High School, 3800 Mechanicsville Road. No classes are scheduled for April 15 and 17.

There is a cost for both residents and nonresidents.
