Bruce J. Gartner, 77, of Freehold, N.J., previously of Wescosville, died peacefully at home Jan. 25, 2025. He was the husband of Jane Gartner (Jandrasits) for 54 years. Born in Northampton, he was the son of the late Jacob and Margaret (Selady) Gartner.
A 1965 graduate of Allentown Central Catholic High School, he attended Lehigh County Community College, where he earned an associate degree.
He honorably served in the United States Army during Vietnam, where he earned the rank of captain and was awarded a Bronze Star. Upon his discharge from the Army, he worked at Bethlehem Steel and then Super Fresh, later Pathmark, until his retirement in 2011.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughter, Alison Lombardi and husband, Salvatore III, of Freehold, N.J.; grandsons, Salvatore IV and Nicholas Bruce; sister, Ava McCarthy and her husband, Dennis, of Green Lane; brother-in-law, Joseph Jandrasits, of Coplay; nephew, Michael Fedor; niece, Michelle Massi (Fedor). He was predeceased by a son, Daniel; parents-in-law, John and Mary (Sommer) Jandrasits.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Jan. 31 in Saint Elizabeth of Hungary Catholic Church, 618 Fullerton Ave., Whitehall, where his family will receive guests beginning 10 a.m.
