EHS’ field study program, in partnership with Kutztown University, will offer an opportunity for students planning to major in education to earn college credits while still in high school. Students will also earn field study credit. Current sophomores and juniors are eligible. Kutztown representatives will host a session in the multimedia room Feb. 25 to review details and answer questions.
Any other prospective field study students who are sophomores and juniors should attend one of two informational meetings in multimedia room B Feb. 10 or Feb. 18 during homeroom. For more information, visit the field study website or contact Kelly Duffy at kduffy@eastpennsd.org.
EHS will continue to hold several “Student Wellness Groups” in the third marking period, beginning Feb. 5. These groups, run by the “Communities in Schools” program, are intended to provide spaces for students to grow and learn skills crucial to mental, emotional and social well-being. Groups running this marking period include: “Girls Self Esteem,” focusing on building self awareness, strengthening mental health and other skills, meeting 8:30-9:15 a.m. every Wednesday; “Boys Empowerment,” teaching healthy communication and collaboration skills, 9:30-10:15 a.m. every Wednesday; “Teen Issues,” focusing on a variety of topics including anxiety, depression, maintaining healthy boundaries and more, 11:40 a.m. to 12:25 p.m. every Wednesday; “Grief and Loss,” dedicated to supporting fellow students going through grief or loss as well as developing coping skills, 12:40-1:25 p.m. every Wednesday and “Mindfulness,” teaching anxiety and stress management, 1:45-2:25 p.m. every Wednesday. Students can sign up using the link located in the “Class of” Schoology page.
EHS will continue its annual tradition of the “Coffee House” fundraiser Jan. 31 where students will present a performance of their choosing, whether singing, instrumental or other, in the EHS cafeteria. In recent years, this fundraiser has seen upward of 20 acts in one night. Coffee House will take place 7-9 p.m. this year.
Students have off from school Feb. 14, which is a professional development day and schools will be closed Feb. 17 for Presidents Day as well.
