Two-vehicle crash

A Macungie motorist escaped injury when the vehicle he was driving overturned before crashing into a stopped vehicle near the intersection of Lower Macungie Road and South Cedar Crest Boulevard, Lower Macungie Township, 8:44 a.m. Jan. 6, according to Pennsylvania State Police Fogelsville. The motorist was eastbound along Lower Macungie Road and described by state police as “traveling too fast for conditions during a snowfall” when he lost control of his vehicle and the vehicle hit an embankment and overturned. The vehicle then slid along the roadway and struck the SUV described by authorities as “at a complete stop” at the time of the collision. Emmaus EMS crews evaluated the driver at the crash and no injuries were reported. The driver of the SUV also was unhurt, according to authorities. Lower Macungie Fire Department personnel and state police closed Lower Macungie Road from South Cedar Crest Boulevard to Little Spur Road, Lower Macungie Township, for approximately one hour after the crash to investigate. The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation and Stew’s Tire Center also responded. Both vehicles were towed from the crash scene.
