STARs club brings excitement to Salisbury High School this winter

Exciting events are kicking off the new semester at Salisbury High School, bringing students and staff together with fun and school spirit. From Jan. 27-31, the STARs club is hosting a spirit week to mark the start of the second semester. Each day features a unique theme designed to promote a positive, drug-free message.

Monday is “Dynamic Duo Day,” with the theme “Side by side, take a drug-free ride.” Students are encouraged to dress as iconic pairs, such as Batman and Robin or peanut butter and jelly.

On Tuesday, it’s “Dress Like Your Favorite Album Cover Day,” celebrating the theme “Rockin’ the Drug-Free Life.” Students can reenact their favorite album covers or wear band T-shirts to show their music taste.

Wednesday brings “Anything BUT a Backpack Day,” where students can carry their school supplies in anything but a backpack. The theme is “Anything but drugs,” and creative options like suitcases or baskets are encouraged, as long as they follow size guidelines and don’t block hallways.

Thursday is “Teacher and Student Switch Day” with the theme “Teach yourself to say no.” Students dress as teachers and teachers dress as students, creating a fun role-reversal experience. Spirit Week wraps up on Friday with “Decades Day,” themed “Plan for the future, don’t live in the past.” Seniors dress as the 1970s, juniors as the 1980s, sophomores as the 1990s and freshmen as the 2000s, while teachers can choose any decade they love. All attire throughout the week must adhere to the school dress code.

In addition to Spirit Week, the third annual baseball bingo will take place Feb. 2. This event supports the baseball team and offers an evening of fun and community engagement. Doors open 11:30 a.m. and bingo starts 1 p.m. Tickets are discounted in advance for 20 games or for an advance bundle that includes 20 games plus the 5-game specials pack. A concession stand will be run by the Salisbury High School girls’ basketball team. To reserve tickets, use Venmo (@TRICIA-DICKERT) and include the reservation name and “Bingo” under “What’s it for.”

With Spirit Week and baseball bingo, Salisbury is starting the semester with excitement and school pride.
