Morning reflection
It was 7 degrees when we recently left an inner city hospital shortly before 8 a.m. after a heart test, early enough and cold enough to wonder where she slept last night or whether she slept at all, when we passed a woman, seemingly dressed only in burlap, seemingly intent making herself tiny by coiling into the corner of a bench on the corner of the building, who, in a tone of voice that revealed she was intimate with cold, tenderly addressed Mrs. G with “Honey, that jacket ain’t warm enough.” There but for the grace of God go us.
