Lehigh Valley Active Life offers February events and activities

Lehigh Valley Active Life, 1633 W Elm St., Allentown, is offering the following dances 7-10 p.m. during February in the Trexler Room.

The per person fee includes refreshments.

·Feb. 1: “Country Dance”

·Feb. 8: “Kato”

·Feb. 15: “Latin Salsa”

·Feb. 22: “Johnny K”

The following dance will be offered 1-3 p.m. in the Trexler Room.

·Feb. 26: “Johnny K”

Dance classes include:

·Feb. 4, 11, 18, 25: Beginner tap with instructor Grace Conti, 9 a.m.

If you have always wanted to learn to tap dance, this class is for you. Tap shoes are required.

·Feb. 3, 10, 17, 24: Introduction to line dance with instructor Peggy Sue Tobias, 1:45 p.m.

Learn the basic steps and proper technique with fun, easy dance to all genres of music.

·Feb. 3, 10, 17, 24: Line dance with instructor Peggy Sue Tobias, 12:30 p.m.

Learn the newest, most popular line dances as well as some of the classics. Must have experience.

Feb. 12, 19: Wednesday Karaoke 1-3 p.m. Trexler Room, led by your host Bobby James. Free. Everyone welcome.

The following creative arts classes are being offered.

·Feb. 3, 5, 10, 12, 17, 19, 24, 26: Arts and crafts led by Trisha Baker, 9-11 a.m.

·Feb. 5, 7, 12, 14, 19, 21, 26, 28: Suzanne Bauder’s Art for Everyone, noon.

Help is available for all media chosen. New and advanced students are welcome.

·Feb. 6, 13, 20, 27: Knit and chat group, 9 a.m.

Stop in, work on your own projects, knit, crochet or embroider.

·Feb. 6, 13, 20, 27: Junk journaling, book making led by instructor Jean Burd, 10 a.m.

Bring glue sticks, magazines and scissors.

·Feb. 3, 10, 17, 24: Drawing led by instructor Judy Peters, 9:30 a.m.

Learn how to draw with pencils in this introductory class to composition, outlining and shading.

·Feb. 5: Paint and sip “Valentine Gnome” led by Angela Faidley, 6-8 p.m.

Everyone will create their own masterpiece. Price includes materials and wine.

·Feb. 4, 11, 18, 25: Instructor Bonny Batman’s ceramics, 9 a.m.

Come join these fun ceramics ongoing classes. Price includes paints.

·Feb. 6, 13, 20, 27: Instructor Ray Royer’s photography composition basics, 12:30 p.m.

Learn how to improve your photography using your cellphone or any camera.

The following history class will be offered.

·Feb. 5: World War II History “The Alamo Scouts” with instructor Dr. Charles Bonos, 2 p.m.

EXERCISE:

·Feb. 7, 14, 21, 28: Friday “Tai Chi for Balance” 10:30 a.m. Instructor: Bob Donnelly (Pai Ma Shen) A holistic exercise that helps reduce stress and promote physical well-being. Using slow flowing movement to coordinate breath and enhance strength, balance and calmness. ·Feb. 3, 7, 10, 1417, 21, 24, 28: Monday/Friday “Fit Circuit” 12:30 p.m. Instructor Sara Mercer This low impact circuit style class, featuring upbeat choreography mixed with strength training, is a great overall cardio workout. Call for fees.

·Feb. 3, 10, 17, 24: Monday “Barre” 10:15 a.m. Instructor Michele Fisher A low impact toning class that blends the principals of Pilates, yoga, strength training and ballet to activate your entire body. Focus on proper body alignment, balance, stability, and flexibility and strength; targeting hips, glutes, abs and arms. Standing and floor work and the ballet barre is used for some portions of class, but this is not a dance class. Call for fees

·Feb. 3, 5, 10, 12, 17, 19, 24, 26: Monday/Wednesday “Zumba” 9:30 a.m. Instructor Grace Conti Dancers and non-dancers will enjoy this Latin inspired, dance fitness class, which is designed for seniors. Call for fees.

·Feb. 4, 6, 11, 13, 18, 20, 25, 27: Tuesday/Thursday 9 a.m. “Zumba” Instructor Ed Nickels Dancers and non-dancers will enjoy this Latin inspired dance fitness class, which is designed for seniors. Call for fees.

·Feb. 3, 10, 17, 24: Monday 12:30 p.m. “Tai Chi Beginner” Instructor Helaine Young Consist of a series of slow, flowing movements that promotes holistic benefits, for the individual practitioner. The benefits include improved balance ad coordination, leg strength, cardiovascular health, mental concentration, stress relief. Call for fees.

·Feb. 2, 9, 16, 23: Sunday Afternoon Pinochle, 1 p.m. Single deck of cards. Six games, must stay for all games. $1.50 per person.

·Feb. 3, 10, 17, 24: Party Bridge 11 a.m. Trexler Room Exercise for the mind. Join us for Party Bridge (must know how to play), Drop in no reservation needed.

·Feb. 4, 11, 18, 25: Tuesday Afternoon Cribbage, 1 p.m. Learn to play and enjoy the game. Free. Drop in – no reservation needed.
