The Parkland High School girls basketball split a pair of conference games last week.

Parkland dropped its first East Penn Conference game last Tuesday, Jan. 7, falling to Emmaus 42-36. The Trojans responded three nights later by defeating Pleasant Valley 68-6.

In the game with the Green Hornets, Parkland got out in front early and held as much as a nine-point advantage in the first half. The Trojans led 8-6 after the first quarter and 21-18 at halftime. But Emmaus outscored Parkland 24-15 in the second half, including 16-9 in the decisive fourth quarter.

Delaney Chilcote tallied a game-high 17 points for Parkland and Sarah Car recorded 10 points. Aneri McGalla finished with five points and Addison Fritzinger rounded out the scoring with four points.

In the victory over the Bears, the Trojans jumped on them early and the game was decided within the first couple of minutes. Parkland led 20-1 after the opening quarter and held Pleasant Valley scoreless in the second quarter, taking a 42-1 lead into halftime.

Chilcote led the way with 14 points and Carly Spang added 13 points, including a team-high three 3-pointers. Isabella Hallal totaled 10 points to give the Trojans three players in double figures. McGalla netted six points and Yana Smaltz contributed five points.
