Fugazzotto goes 6-0 at tourney

The Northwestern wrestling team competed in the Parkland Duals Saturday at Parkland High School.

The Tigers, led by a 6-0 effort from Luke Fugazzotto, went 3-3 at the event. They got back into Colonial League action Tuesday with a win over Lehighton.

Northwestern started Saturday’s matched with a 41-29 win over West Chester Rustin, taking eight of the 13 bouts including two by fall.

Trent Croll and Fugazzotto pinned their WCR opponents, while Braydon Uricchio won by technical fall and Colby Townley and Nolan Koehler won by decisions. Logan Uricchio, Weston Killar and Elijah McCown picked up forfeit wins.

The Tigers topped Bangor 42-27 in the second round, winning eight matches including five by fall.

Vinnie Fugazzotto, Luke Fugazzotto, Logan Uricchio, Killar and Koehler pinned their Slater opponents. Croll won by technical fall. Braydon Uricchio earned a major decision and Hunter Greenawalt won by decision in a match that saw no forfeits.

The Tigers dropped their quarterfinal match against eventual champ Northampton, 52-12.

Luke Fugazzotto pinned his Konkrete Kid opponent, while Vinnie Fugazzotto and Townley won by decision.

Northwestern bounced back with a 43-26 win over Delaware Valley.

Logan Uricchio, Killar, Braydon Uricchio, Croll and Luke Fugazzotto won matches by fall against the Warriors, while Chase Sukanick and Koehler took matches by technical fall. Greenawalt won his match by decision.

The Tigers lost to Boyertown in their next match, 53-9. The Bears went 5-1 at the event.

A Luke Fugazzotto pin and Killar’s win by decision were the only matches Northwestern won against Boyertown.

The Tigers finished the day against the host Trojans, falling 35-33 despite winning seven matches to Parkland’s six.

Koehler and both Fugazzotto brothers pinned their Parkland opponents, while Towley won by technical fall. Sukanick earned a major decision win while Braydon Uricchio and Killar earned wins by decision.

Northwestern improved to 2-0 in the Colonial League and 6-3 overall with Tuesday’s 45-23 win over Lehighton.

Posting falls for the Tigers were Logan Uricchio (107), Killar (114), Braydon Uricchio (127), Vinnie Fugazzotto (172) and Jackson Bailey (215).

The winners also received a technical fall from Luke Fugazzotto (189).
