Emmaus girls basketball rolls past BC, Zephs

The Emmaus High School girls basketball team has been the class of the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference through the first two months of the 2024-25 regular season.

The Hornets have not lost in league play and have been victorious on 15 of their 16 games overall.

It was more of the same last week as Emmaus won on the road at Bethlehem Catholic, 56-53, last Tuesday, Jan. 14, and then defeated Whitehall 51-17 at home this past Friday night.

It was a different kind of game than they’ve been used to, as they trailed the Golden Hawks in the fourth quarter. Emmaus rallied and outscored Becahi 17-11 in the final frame to take the game. It was just the third time this season a team was able to stay within single digits the Hornets.

Emmaus led 16-10 after the first quarter and 28-24 at halftime, but the Golden Hawks had a strong third quarter, outscoring the Green Hornets 18-11.

Gabby DeVita led the way with 18 points. Kayla Snyder tallied 14 points, including three 3-pointers. Olive Whitney recorded 13 points. Sylvia Sokolofksi contributed eight points and Cassie Doemling added five points.

In the victory over the Zephyrs, Emmaus scored the game’s first 15 points and held a 35-7 lead at halftime.

Snyder finished with a game-high 14 points and DeVita added 10 points. Doemling netted six points.

Emmaus (15-1 overall; 11-0 EPC) has won 12 games in a row.
