The Emmaus High School boys basketball team split a pair of games last week and have won two of their last of their last four games.
Last Tuesday, Jan. 7, the Hornets fell to rival and defending conference and District 11 6A champion Parkland, 61-36, but then bounced back and went on the road to take down Pocono Mountain East 62-57 on Friday night up north.
Against the Trojans, the two teams were neck-and-neck to start the game as Parkland held an 11-10 lead after the opening quarter and then was ahead 26-19 at halftime. The Trojans took control of the game in the third quarter and outscored Emmaus 35-17 in the second half to pull out the victory.
Seniors Jack Csensits and Owen Hafner each finished with a team-high 11 points. Chase Whitesell tallied six points and Mike Rooney recorded four points. Lucas Stephen and Jake Ross rounded out the scoring with two points each.
In the victory over the Cardinals, the Hornets were able to get out to a lead early and hold on. They outscored PME 17-9 in the first quarter and led 32-20 at halftime. Csensits ended the night with a game-high 22 points. Hafner contributed nine points and both Jake Ross and Matt Rooney finished with seven points, with the latter draining a team-best two 3-pointers.
Emmaus, which is now 3-11 overall and 3-6 in the conference, hosted Bethlehem Catholic this past Tuesday and is at Whitehall on Friday night in a pair of conference matchups.
