The Emmaus girls wrestling team went 2-1 Sunday at the Parkland Duals Tournament at Parkland High School.
The Hornets won their first two matches. They beat Delaware Valley 40-33 in the quarterfinal round then took down Northampton 41-35 in the semifinals to earn a place in the first-place match against Parkland.
The host Trojans won the title bout 43-28.
In the tournament opener against Delaware Valley, Emmaus won seven matches, including six pins from Petyon Schneck (100), Danielle Rivera (112), Erin Bechtel (124), Sarah Luisi (130), Brynn Koberlein (136) and Katherine Soto-Acuna (235). Olivya Kroope (155) won by major decision against the Warriors.
Against Northampton, Emmaus won seven matches, including five pins. After falling behind 23-0, the Hornets won five straight matches with pins from Luisi (130), Brynn Koberlein (136), Ariana Koberlein (142) and Kroope (155) and a forfeit win by Haily Laible (148).
Soto-Acuna (235) and Schneck (100) finished off the match with a pin and technical fall, respectively.
In the championship match, Parkland won eight of the 13 bouts. The Hornets’ Luisi, Kroope, Jocelyn Vargas (170) and Soto-Acuna won matches by fall, while Laible earned a win by major decision.
