EHS grapplers beat Parkland
The Emmaus High School boys wrestling team has been on a tear since the start of 2025.
The Hornets won their opening Eastern Pennsylvania Conference dual match and then finished fifth out of 57 teams at their lone tournament thus far, the Mid-Winter Mayhem Invitational at IUP the weekend of Jan. 11-12.
Last week, Emmaus continued its winning ways and with two conference wins on back-to-back nights, taking down rival Parkland on the road last Wednesday, 34-25, and following that up with a 52-15 victory over Liberty at home on Thursday night.
The match with the Trojans was a close one as Emmaus won seven of the bouts, while Parkland earned six victories.
Bonus points were a deciding factor with the Hornets recording three pins to the Trojans’ two. Emmaus also earned two technical fall wins, while Parkland had none.
Emmaus opened the match by winning three of the first four bouts as Chancellor Henry won by technical fall at 152 pounds and Jesse Scott followed with a pin at 160.
After a Trojans pin, the Hornets’ Xayden Sallit recorded a pin at 189 pounds to push his team’s lead to 17-6. Parkland pulled to within 17-16, but Jackson Max had a pin at 107 pounds and Emilio Albanese won by technical fall at 114 to extend the advantage to 28-16. Levi Max picked up an 11-9 decision at 127 pounds and Xyler Sallit secured the victory with a 7-4 decision in the final bout at 145 pounds.
In the win over the Hurricanes, Emmaus won 10 of the 13 bouts, all to start the match, including five pins, two tech. falls and one forfeit. Jackson Max began the match with a technical fall win at 107 pounds, followed by a forfeit win for Albanese at 114 and a pin for Teagan Caciolo at 121 pounds.
Levi Max and Aiden Bayard tallied back-to-back decisions at 127 and 133 pounds, respectively.
Xyler Sallit, Logan Armstrong, Scott and Xayden Sallit all earned pins as Henry notched a technical fall win to complete the scoring for Emmaus.
Emmaus has a busy week with three matches all at home this week.
The Hornets hosted Nazareth this past Monday and welcome Stroudsburg to town Wednesday night before competing in a non-conference match against Pennridge on Saturday morning at Emmaus.
