Blunt, Tone win titles at tournament

Two Salisbury wrestlers won titles and the Falcon wrestling team took fourth place at the South Williamsport Mountaineer Invitational Saturday at South Williamsport High School.

Jarrod Blunt (127) and Nathaniel Tone (145) both took first place in their weight class, going 3-0 at the event. Jacob Spinner (114) and Jordan Tocci-Wachter (152) both finished third Saturday, while Michael Segata (139) and Colton Tone (160) placed fourth and Jacob Watson (189) took seventh place.

Blunt, a freshman, improved to 14-4 this season He started in the quarterfinals and pinned his first opponent in 23 seconds. He put his semifinal foe one on his back in 2:58 before beating Angelo Hill (Mid Valley) 6-5 in the championship bout.

Nathaniel Tone, a senior, improved to 11-6 this season with his three wins. He pinned his quarterfinal opponent in the second period then showed his next opponent the lights in just 1:41 to reach the title bout.

Nathaniel Tone cruised to a 20-4 win by technical fall over Pleasant Valley’s Jason Kays in the championship match.

Segata, Tocci-Wachter, Colton Tone and Watson all won first-round matches to reach the semifinals, with all four winning by fall.

Segata and Spinner won quarterfinal bouts before losing in the semifinals and wrestling back to the place matches.

Tocci-Wacther, Colton Tone and Watson lost their quarterfinal bouts before coming back through the consolation brackets to place at the event.

All seven Salisbury wrestlers that competed in the event finished seventh or higher.

Pleasant Valley (194.5) won the team title Saturday, with Williamson (179), Valley View (153.5), Salisbury (1134) and South Williamsport (129) rounding out the top five at the 15-team tournament.
