LEHIGH VALLEY WEATHER

Liberty preps for busy stretch

Most EPC wrestling teams have a lighter schedule toward the end of the regular season on Jan. 29, but Liberty isn’t following that track.

The Hurricanes (6-4) have a dual with Whitehall on Wednesday before heading to the Quakertown Duals this Saturday for six matches.

It’s a taxing stretch for Liberty, but head coach Brandon Hall is looking forward to see how his team responds.

“It’s not ideal as you would like these competitions a little more evenly spaced out,” said Hall of the packed schedule, which also pits them against Easton next Monday. “Looking to see how our team responds to this grind of duals in one day with very tough competition. Also another opportunity for all of our new guys to get matches and experience.”

The teams Liberty will see on Saturday include Delaware Valley, Quakertown, Saucon Valley, West Chester Rustin and West Scranton.

After a rough stretch of losses last week, losing to Northampton 65-6 and Emmaus 52-15, this week is an opportunity for the ‘Canes to get back on track and get valuable reps before the postseason.

“I want them to stay focused on progression regardless of who we wrestle or what the dual score is,” said Hall. “We are as young and inexperienced as any Liberty team has been but our expectations do not change with regards to how we compete or practice.”
