Bethlehem Catholic came back from the Escape the Rock tournament over the weekend with a mixed bag of results. The Hawks finished ninth in the team standings and medaled four wrestlers at the event, but didn’t register any finalists nor did they come out with any victors in the medal rounds.
Shane McFillin came away with the highest finish, taking third at 172 following a 6-0 loss to Faith Christian Academy’s Nick Singer.
Nico Emili (107), Reef Dillard (121) and Charlie Scanlan (160) each finished sixth in the event after consolation round losses.
Emili fell to Braiden Lotier of Bishop McDevitt 8-3, while Dillard lost a 7-4 decision to Ethan Timar of St. Edwards (OH). Scanlan fell to another Faith Christian product, as Chase Hontz won by a 4-2 decision.
Keanu Dillard (127) didn’t participate in the event due to injury/illness. He was a top-seed and a returning finalist at the tournament from a year ago.
The Hawks have a quiet schedule on tap before the District 11 dual tournament kicks off on Feb. 1, as they wrestle East Stroudsburg South and North on Wednesday and Thursday of this week respectively.
