Elmer K. Shaffer

Elmer K. “Bud” Shaffer, 91, formerly of Schnecksville, died Jan. 18, 2025, in Miller Personal Care of Phoebe Home, Allentown.

He and his wife, Lois A. (Schneck) Shaffer, were married 64 years.

Born Oct. 13, 1933, in Allentown, he was the son of the late Elmer K. and Helen M. (Stauffer) Shaffer.

A 1955 graduate of the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy, he owned and operated the former Keiper’s Pharmacy, Allentown, for 42 years before retiring in 1999.

He was a member of Union Evangelical Lutheran Church, Schnecksville, where he formerly served on the church council, and was a former member of the Allentown Rotary Club.

He faithfully and honorably served his country in the U.S. Army during a peacetime era.

In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by children John R. Shaffer (Cathy) of Schnecksville, Suzanne M. Fahler (Robert) of Schnecksville, and Robert N. Shaffer (Shannon) of Slatington; sister Lois L. Bohner (Richard) of Allentown; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

His memorial service will be 11 a.m. on Jan. 25 at Union Evangelical Lutheran Church, 5500 Route 873, Schnecksville.

The Rev. Gordon A. Camp will officiate.

Family and friends may pay their respects 10-11 a.m. in the church narthex.

Interment will follow the service at Union Church Cemetery, Neffs.
